What you will find
On each of the pages linked to above (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), you will find links to our tutorial topics. If a screencast tutorial is available for both Mac and Windows platforms, that will be indicated. Each tutorial topic link will take you to a wiki page created by the producer of the screencast tutorial on that topic. On each page, in addition to the screencast itself, you will find:
- an overview of the skill being taught
- ideas on how it can be used in teaching and learning
- links to additional resources to help you learn more about the topic
- notes about the author and contact information
Who we are
This wiki was created during Fall 2010 as a part of CIS 220, Technology in Teaching and Learning, a course taught by Barbara Z. Taylor at Elon University. Students who contributed to the wiki are seeking teacher licensure through Elon's Teacher Education program and are prospective teachers of K-12 students. For information about the course or this project, email btaylor@elon.edu.
About our Screencast Project
In order to learn more about features, tricks, and tips in Microsoft Office 2007/2008, each of us created a screencast to demonstrate the use of a particular feature.
Since we are a mixed group of Mac and Windows users, for many of the topics there are two screencasts - one created by a student using Office 2007 in Windows and the other by a student using Office 2008 for Macs. Students assigned to the same topic collaborated to identify key concepts that were the same regardless of platform, and then each created a screencast demonstrating how to implement the feature on a specific platform. For other topics where there was no real difference between platforms and/or not enough students for alternate platforms, the skill was only demonstrated on one platform or the other, and a screenshot was included to help users of the alternate platform find the same tools.
